Retail therapy – the one phrase that attached men hate to hear, women will never admit to existing and a symptom that psychologists love to harp on. Retail therapy. One of those little joys in life that women have found and men are ignorant of. What does the phrase mean to you?

For me, it gives me tingles, down to the bone shivers that radiate throughout my entire body until its virtually impossible for me to do anything else but give in to the feeling! Retail therapy! Hurrah Hurrah!

I recently indulged in a little bit of retail therapy for myself. I’d been holding back, waiting until I really needed to give in, and not only indulge but completely saturate myself in this little gift. How could I not? After all, I do deserve it. No matter what it is that I buy – whether it’s only a coffee, a purse, some nail polish or a full blown shopping experience, as women we deserve it.

It has such a bad connotation within our culture today. When we hear retail therapy, most people automatically think of Sex and the City. Really, I don’t blame them. What woman wouldn’t wish to indulge in a little bit of Anne Klein, Tiffany’s or any other type of shopping found only in New York?

But really, it’s not all that bad. When I’m feeling down in the dumps, stressed or just a little bit wired – walking around Chapters, holding a White Chocolate Mocha from Starbucks and pursuing the latest titles from my favorite authors – it does the trick every single time. I always come home happy, chipper and less ready to explode at my children and their incessant demands … (sounds like I need to indulge right now).

So let’s give a shout to Retail Therapy! One of life’s little miracles that happen to save many a women, marriage and family!
